Mekanisk sett er den identisk med etterf\u00f8lgeren TR6. Den fikk en 2,5 liters rekkesekser p\u00e5 150 HK med mekanisk bensininnspr\u00f8ytning fra Lucas. 4-trinns girkasse som kunne bestilles med overdrive. Enkelte biler fikk ettermontert overdrive.  Den hadde ellers uavhengig fj\u00e6ring p\u00e5 alle hjul samt skivebremser foran og bak.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"tebh2\">Egen USA modell<\/h3>\n<p>Da innspr\u00f8ytning-systemet fra Lucas ikke tilfredsstilte amerikanske utslippskrav, laget man en egen USA-versjon med doble Zenith-Str\u00f8mberg-forgassere. De ga d\u00e5rligere effekt, 111 HK i stedet for 150HK i TR5. Men i tillegg til renere utslipp fikk eierne kanskje ogs\u00e5 mindre tr\u00f8bbel, ettersom innspr\u00f8ytningssystemet fra Lucas ikke var kjent for \u00e5 v\u00e6re s\u00e6rlig p\u00e5litelig. Den amerikanske modellen ble kalt TR250. Totalt sett ble det produsert flere TR250 for det amerikanske markedet enn TR5 i Europa. I ettertid har mange TR250 blitt hentet tilbake til Europa hvor flere er bygget opp til Europeiske spesifikasjoner med innspr\u00f8ytning. I Storbritannia har man i tillegg m\u00e5tte bygge om fra LHD til RHD.
