Teknologien var ikke noe problem, da Volvo nettopp hadde lansert B18-motoren i sin 121-modell, bedre kjent som Amazon. B18-motoren ga ingen sportsbilytelser, mer en tradisjonell Gran Tourismo 2+2 seter, &#8211; i tr\u00e5d med varianter som italienske Lancia og Fiat lagde p\u00e5 samme tid. Man m\u00e5 jo kunne si at b\u00e5de P1800 &#8211; og Amazon &#8211; hadde et italienskinspirert design.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"tebh2\">Modellhistorikk<\/h3>\n<p>Produksjonen av P1800 begynte i 1961. I de f\u00f8rste to modell\u00e5rene ble bilen produsert av Jensen i Storbritannia. Bilene fra denne perioden kan kjennetegnes ved at front-st\u00f8tfangeren er 2-delt formet som kuhorn.<br \/>\n&nbsp;<br \/>\nSenere flyttet produksjonen til Sverige. P1800S er betegnelsen p\u00e5 svenskbygde modeller for modell\u00e5r 1963. I 1964 forsvant P og modellen het deretter 1800S.<br \/>\n&nbsp;<br \/>\nFra 1970 kom 1800E som ble utstyrt med Volvos B20E med elektronisk bensininnspr\u00f8ytning. Helt p\u00e5 tampen, kom den vakre &laquo;shooting brake&raquo;-versjonen 1800ES, ogs\u00e5 den med B20. Siste produksjons\u00e5r ble 1973. Et visuelt kjennetegn p\u00e5 modeller fra omkring 1967 er at kromlisten p\u00e5 sidene er rak og avsluttes over bakre hjulbuer, mens den p\u00e5 tidligere versjoner krummer seg opp mot bakre sidevindu. M\u00f8nsteret i grillen forandret seg fra enkle til doble ribber. Fra 1968 ble alle bilene utstyrt med hodest\u00f8tter i setene foran. Vel er Volvos B18 n\u00e6rmest uslitelig, men man m\u00e5 vel ogs\u00e5 gi den sympatiske bileieren noe av \u00e6ren for den lange kj\u00f8relengden.
