De siste seriene av Mustang I hadde etter hvert blitt mer og mer omfangsrike, til tross for at modellen opprinnelig var basert p\u00e5 Falcon &#8211; en ganske liten Ford fra 60-\u00e5rene. Mustang II ble basert p\u00e5 Pinto, &#8211; en billig modell som aldri h\u00f8stet s\u00e6rlig anerkjennelse i bilmilj\u00f8er, &#8211; men likevel solgte som varme hvetebr\u00f8d. Den st\u00f8rste skuffelsen blant Mustang-venner var ikke f\u00f8rst og fremst at den nye Mustangen var <em>mindre<\/em>, men at den ikke kunne leveres med V8. Det var f\u00f8rst i 1975 at 302 V8 ble et alternativ. Standardmotoren var alts\u00e5 2,3 rekkefireren fra Pinto. Man kunne ogs\u00e5 f\u00e5 den som 2,8 V6 &#8211; samme motor som gikk i europeiske Ford&#8217;er. F\u00f8rst fra 1975 kom Fords 302 V8 som et alternativ. Karosseriene som ble tilbudt var Coupe, Ghia og Hatchback. Hardtop og Ghia hadde en ganske rett notchback-avslutning p\u00e5 samme m\u00e5te som Mustang 1&#8217;s hardtop, skj\u00f8nt Mustang II ble aldri levert som ekte hardtop uten midtstolpe. Det var bare <em>navnet<\/em> som brakte minner om hardtop. Fastback hadde bakluke (hatchback), og brakte vel Mustang&#8217;en designmessig enda n\u00e6rmere Pinto. <\/p>\n<h3 class=\"tebh2\">Savnet<\/h3>\n<p>Som lesere kan merke seg, har <em>Terjes biler<\/em> et meget rikholdig utvalg av Mustang-bilder tatt langs veien og p\u00e5 ulike arrangementer. Men Mustang II har lenge v\u00e6rt savnet. Den finnes ingen steder. Hvem importerer en Mustang II, liksom? Men p\u00e5 midten av 70-\u00e5rene var Mustang II en dr\u00f8mmebil for mange &#8211; undertegnede inkludert. Min f\u00f8rste bil ble en Ford kj\u00f8pt i 1976 hos min lokale Ford-forhandler. Den gang fikk Fiesta stor oppmerksomhet. De riktig fine Ford&#8217;ene for en 18-\u00e5ring den gang, var selvf\u00f8lgelig Capri og Granada &#8211; samt Mustang selvf\u00f8lgelig! Mustang II f\u00e5r ikke toppscore for \u00e5 v\u00e6re den beste Mustang, &#8211; men den har meget h\u00f8y nostalgieffekt. Den har T\u00f8nsbergs-skilter fra samme tid og samme forhandler hvor jeg kj\u00f8pte min f\u00f8rste bil. Mustang&#8217;en sto kanskje i utstillingshallen da? N\u00e5r jeg s\u00f8ker etter registreringsnumre over Mustang II, finner jeg kun et par som er <em>importert<\/em>. Resten er p\u00e5 originale skilter fra 70-\u00e5rene. Fastback-utgaven er avbildet p\u00e5 Hofftreffet 2021. Det er en 1975-modell 302 med 5.0 V8.
