I tiden mellom de to generasjonene hadde bilen blitt solgt, men ble leid inn av Kongehuset for bryllupet i 2001 og kj\u00f8pt tilbake \u00e5ret etter. Den b\u00e6rer registreringsnummer A-5. En historisk bil som dette, har en naturlig plass i Kongehusets bilsamling. Kennedy ble skutt i Houston. Bilen han satt i, var en spesialbygget Lincoln Continental Convertible, kalt SS-100-X. Den var forlenget med en meter, hadde et forsterket karosseri med stigtrinn p\u00e5 den bakre st\u00f8tfangeren for Secret Service folkene. Bilen var tilgjengelig med forskjellige gjennomsiktige takkonstruksjoner for \u00e5 beskytte mot v\u00e6r, vind og attentat. Dessverre var ingen av disse i bruk den dagen da tragedien inntraff. Hva skjedde med SS-100-X? Den tjenestegjorde i flere \u00e5r for Secret Service, men st\u00e5r i dag p\u00e5 Henry Ford Museum i Dearborn, Michigan.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"tebh2\">Modellhistorikk<\/h3>\n<p>Lincoln Continental ble produsert mellom 1961 til 1969. Modellen ble produsert i f\u00f8lgende serier:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Serie 1: 1961 &#8211; 1963<\/li>\n<li>Serie 2: 1964 &#8211; 1965<\/li>\n<li>Serie 3: 1966 &#8211; 1969<\/lis><\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<br \/>\nMotorene hentet fra Ford&#8217;s MEL-serie (Mercury-Edsel-Lincoln). Motorene i serie 1 biler var 430 kubikktommer. I serie 2 var motorene boret opp til 462 kubikktommer. Etter at MEL-serien ble faset ut i 1967, fikk bilene nye motorer p\u00e5 460 kubikktommer fra Ford&#8217;s motorprogram.<br \/>\n&nbsp;<br \/>\nDet ble laget 3 forskjellige varianter: Alle 3 seriene kunne leveres som 4-d\u00f8rs Sedan eller 4 d\u00f8rs Convertible. Den er fotografert mens den sto parkert utenfor en residens i Mayfair, London 2026. Den senkede bilen er avbildet under et biltreff ved Hof i Vestfold, 2019. <\/p>\n<p><strong>Serie 2<\/strong><br \/>\nBildet av den svarte Convertible i Frognerparken stammer fra utstillingen av amerikanske biler under feiringen av Independence Day i 2019.  Bilen er registrert i kj\u00f8ret\u00f8yregisteret med en 462 V8 motor. Den avbildede bilen er eid av en privat person, men er identisk med den bilen Kongehuset benyttet blant annet som bryllupsbil i bryllupet mellom kronprins Haakon Magnus og kronprinsesse Mette Marit. De er begge 1966-modeller og har eksakt samme &laquo;spec&raquo; i forhold til chassis nummeret. I 1966 ble det produsert 54755 Lincoln Continental. Den privateide bilen er nummer 13509 mens Kongehusets bil er nummer 40075. Flere av bildene er fra utstillingen &laquo;Kongens biler&raquo; i 2022.
