Derav navnet 40 &#8211; Ford GT40.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n<p>Et ikon produsert mellom 1964 og 1969, deretter er det laget kopier ut over 70-tallet. Ford GT40 ser fantastisk ut, selv n\u00e5r den st\u00e5r parkert sammen med en moderne bilpark. <\/p>\n<h3 class=\"tebh2\">Fire serier<\/h3>\n<p>Offisielt ble det produsert fire serier av GT40 under Ford, men i sv\u00e6rt begrenset omfang. De kj\u00f8pte rettighetene til modellnavnet, samt produksjonsmidler, og fortsatte produksjonen av GT40-bilene der Ford avsluttet. Man omtaler ikke denne modellen som &laquo;replika&raquo;,  snarere heller &laquo;continuation model&raquo;. I 1999 ble varemerket <em>GT40<\/em> kj\u00f8pt av <a href=\"https:\/\/gt40.com\/\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Safir GT40 Spares<\/strong><\/a> &#8211; og det er de som sitter p\u00e5 rettighetene i dag. Selskapene <em>Shelby American<\/em> og <em>Superformance<\/em> bygger GT40 i dag lovlig under lisens fra <em>Safir<\/em>. <\/p>\n<h3 class=\"tebh2ingreslbcenter\">Safir GT40<\/h3>\n<p>Nye GT40 Mark V fortsatte nummerserien i chassis numrene og satte sammen biler som i spesifikasjon og kvalitet stemmer med tidligere biler. Firmaet <em>J.W. Automotive Engineering<\/em> er ogs\u00e5 benyttet i prosessen. Den opprinnelige Mustang-motoren 289 V8. Fra mk2 kom ogs\u00e5 427-motoren (7,0 l). Ett av Fords viktigste form\u00e5l med GT40 var \u00e5 vinne l\u00f8p. Derfor ble det i Fords produksjonstid brukt ingeni\u00f8rtimer p\u00e5 \u00e5 skape ekstra effekt og styrke racing-egenskapene.
