Den var billig, spesielt i Frankrike. Etter hvert som bilene begynte \u00e5 gj\u00f8re det bra i bilsport, steg populariteten. Vel var bilene billige og relativt sm\u00e5, men de var <em>t\u00f8ffe<\/em> og fikk image for \u00e5 g\u00e5 skikkelig bra. Flere motorer har ogs\u00e5 v\u00e6rt gjenstand for modifikasjoner innen bilsport. Til og med Abarth har modifisert Rallye-utgaven. Standardutgaven har alltid hatt 1000 ccm motor, mens Rallye utgavene fikk 1100 og 1300-motorer med hestekrefter fra 53 til 103. En av de avbildede bilene er en Rallye 2 med noen-og-80 HK p\u00e5 en bil som kun veier 880 kg. <\/p>\n<h3 class=\"tebh2\">Modellhistorikk<\/h3>\n<p>Simca 1000 ble produsert fra 1961 til 1978 i 2 millioner eksemplarer og var super-popul\u00e6r &#8211; ogs\u00e5 i Norge. I dag finnes det kun 6 biler med skilter her i landet, samt 1 Coup\u00e9. Coup\u00e9en fikk et helt annet karosseri enn 3-boks designet til sedanen. Simca 1000 gjennomgikk en facelift rundt 1968. Faceliftede biler fikk rektangul\u00e6re baklykter, litt st\u00f8rre frontlykter og blinklys som gikk rundt hj\u00f8rnene. Det kom en ny facelift fra modell\u00e5r 1977.
