Modellen var formgitt av <em>Tom Tjaarda<\/em>. Som eneste motorvalg var Ford&#8217;s 351 V8 med automatkasse fra Ford montert i transaksel bak. Noen f\u00e5 biler skal f\u00e5tt manuell 5-trinns girkasse fra ZF. De Tomaso Longchamp hadde uavhengig fj\u00e6ring og skivebremser p\u00e5 alle fire hjul, hvorav de bakre var &laquo;innenbords&raquo; &#8211; montert p\u00e5 drivakslingene mot girkassa. Toppfarten var oppgitt til 240 km\/t. En kuriositet er at tidlige biler fikk samme frontlys som datidens Ford Consul\/Granada. De Tomaso baserte modellen p\u00e5 sin egen Longchamp. Maserati-varianten fikk sm\u00e5 designmessige forandringer og utstyrt med Maseratis egen 4,2 V8 motor.
