Etterf\u00f8lgende modeller i Z-serien, fra Z3 og oppover var langt mer konvensjonelle og fikk ganske stor popularitet, men ikke Z1 \u2013 i hvert fall ikke her hjemme. Kanskje ble den for spesiell med karosseri i kunststoff over ramme, og d\u00f8rer som senket seg ned i stedet for \u00e5 sl\u00e5 ut? Karosseri-delene kunne skiftes ut hjemme uten spesialverkt\u00f8y. Prosessen tok mye lenger tid enn foreskrevet, men man kunne alts\u00e5 gj\u00f8re dette selv. Prisen var vel ogs\u00e5 i h\u00f8yeste laget. Produsert fra 1989 til sommeren 1991. Det ble kun tilbudt ett drivverk best\u00e5ende av rekkesekseren fra 325i og manuell 5-trinns girkasse. P\u00e5 grunn av materialvalget kunne vekten holdes nede. Med en egenvekt p\u00e5 kun 1250 kilo kulle det holde til \u00e5 gi en skikkelig Freude-am-Fahren opplevelse.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"tebh2\">&nbsp;<\/h3>\n<p><figure id=\"attachment_33711\"
