P\u00e5 begynnelsen av 60-tallet tok Leyland Motors over Triumph. Det ga liv til helt nye personbil-serier under Triumph-navnet. F\u00f8rst den mindre 1300, etterfulgt av Toledo og Dolomite. Deretter kom 2000 MK1 i 1963 som ble avl\u00f8st av MK2 h\u00f8sten 1969. Alle disse bilene er i dag klassikere.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n<h3 class=\"tebh2_first\">Triumph under BLMC<\/h3>\n<p>\u00c5ret f\u00f8r MK2 ble introdusert, slo <em>Leyland Motors<\/em> seg sammen med <em>British Motors Corporation<\/em> (BMC) og dannet BLMC (British Leyland). Mange mener at denne sammensl\u00e5ingen ble begynnelsen p\u00e5 slutten for britisk bilindustri, skj\u00f8nt de r\u00f8de tallene hadde nok lyst lenge. Triumph 2000 MK2 konkurrerte med flere biler innenfor samme konsern. F\u00f8rst og fremst Rover P6, men ogs\u00e5 store Austin 1800 og 2200. Det fantes to 2.5-liters modeller, 2.5 PI (petrol injection) og 2.5 TC (twin carburator). Mot slutten av produksjonsserien kom 2500 S, som tok over for de andre 2.5-modellene. I ettertid kan man si at 2000 ikke var noe d\u00e5rlig motorvalg. Den akselererte fra 0-100 p\u00e5 15 sekunder og ga en toppfart p\u00e5 dr\u00f8ye 160 km\/t. Modellens svake side var det elektriske systemet signert &laquo;Lucas&raquo;. Injection-systemet p\u00e5 2.5 PI skal ha v\u00e6rt s\u00e6rdeles up\u00e5litelig.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"tebh2\">Britisk Alfa?<\/h3>\n<p>Triumph p\u00e5 60- og 70-tallet minnet ganske mye om Alfa Romeo. Bilene var sportslige, teknisk avanserte, og henvendte seg til premium-kunder. En biltest av britiske AutoCar utf\u00f8rt h\u00f8sten 1969, konkluderer med f\u00f8lgende:<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<blockquote><p>&laquo;Very predictable cornering, but suspension a little too loose and bouncy&raquo;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<hr \/>\n<p>Mot et pristillegg kunne 2000 MK2 leveres med overdrive p\u00e5 3. og 4. gir, samt servostyring. I f\u00f8lge AutoCar, var det liten eller ingen servoeffekt rundt midstilling, men kraftigere ved \u00f8kende rattutslag. Dette falt ikke i smak hos bilskribenten. Heller ikke understellet. Det kunne ha v\u00e6rt strammere. Instrumentbordet var rikholdig. Interi\u00f8ret smakfullt og ryddig. Alt &laquo;treverk&raquo; var ikke ekte tre, &#8211; skj\u00f8nt det var ganske vanlig ogs\u00e5 p\u00e5 italienske konkurrenter. Det var siste ordin\u00e6re familiebil-serie fra Triumph. Navnet gikk igjen ut over p\u00e5 80-tallet p\u00e5 britiske Rover-Honda&#8217;er. Fra 1976 konsentrerte British Leyland seg om \u00e5 produsere \u00e9n fullsize familiebil, nemlig kombikupeen <em>Rover SD<\/em>. Det var neppe rom for flere merker i denne klassen. Men man kan sp\u00f8rre seg om de ikke hadde v\u00e6rt bedre tjent med \u00e5 videref\u00f8re <em>Triumph<\/em> i stedet for Rover?<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p>&nbsp;<br \/>\n<figure id=\"attachment_21999\"
