Den kunne ogs\u00e5 bestilles som 2+2 seter, men baksetet er i praksis ubrukelig, spesielt med nedsl\u00e5tt kalesje. Det finnes ogs\u00e5 en 4-seter coup\u00e9, kalt C107, som er en forlenget utgave av R107. Den kan minne om en 2-d\u00f8rs coup\u00e9 basert p\u00e5 datidens S-Klasse W116. C107 ble utviklet etter p\u00e5trykk fra amerikanske forhandlere som \u00f8nsket en st\u00f8rre bil som kunne konkurrere mot amerikanske 2-d\u00f8rs coup\u00e9er. Modellen ble kalt SLC for SL Coup\u00e9. Den var strukket hele 36 cm i b\u00e5de lengde og akselavstand. <\/p>\n<h3 class=\"tebh2\">Produsert i 18 \u00e5r<\/h3>\n<p>Roadster-utgaven R107 ble produsert mellom 1971 og 1989, og regnes som en av de lengste produksjonsseriene for Daimler AG. Teknikken ble oppgradert i takt med utviklingen av S-klasse. Men kun sm\u00e5 detaljer skilte de forskjellige \u00e5rsmodellene. Produksjonen av SL Coup\u00e9 ble stanset da den nye S-klassen W126 s\u00e5 dagens lys. Selv GM\/Cadillac resignerte. Den siste amerikanske cabriolet p\u00e5 mange \u00e5r skulle bli 1976-\u00e5rgangen av Cadillac Eldorado. En av de st\u00f8rste utfordringene for Mercedes-Benz m\u00e5 ha v\u00e6rt amerikanske utslippskrav. Det resulterte i kraftige modifiseringer av motorstyringen &#8211; noe som stjal krefter og ytelse. Amerikanske modeller ble kun utstyrt med V8-motorer. Fra 1972-1980 450-motoren, fra 1981-1985 380 SL og fra 1986 560 SL. Men motorene i USA-modellene var kraftig nedjusterte i forhold til tilsvarende europeiske motorer. I 1972 og -73 ble modellen kalt 350 SL til tross for at de var utstyrt med 450-motor. Grunnen til det kan ha v\u00e6rt fordi motorene i USA-modellen kun ga 190 HK, mens tilsvarende europeiske motorer ga 224 HK. Fra 1974 ble Mercedes-Benz tvungne til \u00e5 justere effekten ytterligere ned til 180 HK. <\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<br \/>\n<figure id=\"attachment_41499\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-41499\"
