Normalt er levetiden p\u00e5 Mercedes-Benz-modeller mye lenger enn 5 \u00e5r, men siden &laquo;heckflosse&raquo; (finner) br\u00e5tt ble umoderne p\u00e5 midten av 60-tallet, kunne ikke Daimler Benz n\u00f8ye seg med en midtlivs facelift. De ble n\u00f8dt til \u00e5 fornye datidens S-klasse. Formgivningen fulgte linjene fra W111 sin coup\u00e9-modell som fra starten hadde f\u00e5tt et mer avrundet hekkparti. Den nye modellen ble lansert i 1965. Teknisk sett var den basert p\u00e5 W111. Modellen fungerte som Mercedes-Benz\u2019 &laquo;S-klasse&raquo; frem til W116 dukket opp i 1973. Men finne-Mercedes&#8217;en &laquo;W111&raquo; var ikke d\u00f8d. Det fantes ogs\u00e5 en W109. Den var lik W108, men hadde utvidet akselavstand og luftfj\u00e6ring og kunne leveres med Daimler Benz&#8217; 6,3-liters V8.<br \/>\n&nbsp;<br \/>\n<figure id=\"attachment_84059\" Modellen er en riktig klassiker fra 1971 &#8211; og trolig f\u00e5tt ny eier for lenge siden. Bilen med r\u00f8d metallic lakk deltok p\u00e5 Enfield Pageant of Motoring 2025.
