I likhet med sin forgjenger ble karrosseriet bygget av glassfiberpaneler p\u00e5 st\u00e5lr\u00f8rramme. De utvendige m\u00e5lene er omtrent de samme, men den nye Corvette&#8217;n fikk kortere akselavstand, &#8211; faktisk hele 11 cm for \u00e5 v\u00e6re n\u00f8yaktig. C2 fikk et ganske futuristisk og v\u00e5galt design. Noen hevet kanskje \u00f8yebrynene, men Stingray Coupe med delt bakrute og &laquo;boat-tail&raquo; avrunding av taket, vil for alltid v\u00e6re vakker og klassisk. GM fortsatte med 327 small-block V8 som de s\u00e5 vidt rakk \u00e5 lanserte i utg\u00e5ende modell. Motoren ble tilbudt i flere varianter hvorav en med bensininnspr\u00f8ytning. Kundene kunne velge mellom 2-trinns Powerglide og 3 eller 4-trinns manuell girkasse. Fra 1966 ble Corvette introdusert med GM&#8217;s 427 big-Block V8.
