Den hadde en front med kun to nyrer, og lykter som ga fronten et haiaktig utseende. Den opprinnelige sharknose-modellen ble imidlertid raskt avl\u00f8st av BMW E9 fra 1968-1975. E9 er motorisert med rekkeseksere fra BMW-stallen. Det er 2800, 2.5 og 3.0.
