Egentlig er den bygget som T2, alle med motorene bak. De f\u00f8rste modellene hadde s\u00e5gar luftavkj\u00f8lte motorer, men etter hvert fikk den de vannavkj\u00f8lte motorer. Biler med luftavkj\u00f8lte motorer begynner \u00e5 bli sjeldne. Foruten lyden av luftavkj\u00f8lt motor, kan man se at de bare har \u00e9n grill &#8211; kun den \u00f8verste. Vannavkj\u00f8lte modeller fikk to griller. I dag er Volkswagen T3 b\u00e5de veteranbiler og klassikere. Det er fremtidige samlerbiler. Fra januar 1985 kunne man f\u00e5 biler med Syncro &#8211; Volkswagens 4-hjulssystem med viskosekobling som koblet inn forhjulene ved behov. Fra modell\u00e5ret 1986 kom en facelift. Den innebar blant annet nye st\u00f8tfangere av svart plast\/gummi og rektangul\u00e6re lykter i stedet for runde. I likhet med forgjengeren ble T3 levert i en rekke varianter som varebil (Transporter) med og uten sidevinduer &#8211; og med og uten bakseter (ikke i Norge), &#8211; samt singel- og dobbeltkabiner pickup. T3 ble ogs\u00e5 laget i p\u00e5kostede &#8211; litt mer luksuri\u00f8se varianter &#8211; som Caravelle og Multivan. Fra 1986 kunne man ogs\u00e5 f\u00e5 den med Syncro (4-hjulsdrift). Det ble ogs\u00e5 laget uttallige varianter av T3 som campingbiler. Foruten Volkswagens egen Westfalia-takl\u00f8sning, fantes det firmaer n\u00e6r sagt over hele verden som bygget og innredet Transporter og Caravelle til campingbiler.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"tebh2\">Motorisering<\/h3>\n<p>De vannavkj\u00f8lte bensinmotorene var i likhet med de luftavkj\u00f8lte Volkswagen-motorene ogs\u00e5 boksermotorer &#8211; et konsept Volkswagen kalte Wasserboxer. Dieselmotorene var vanlige rekkefirere som gikk i flere av datidens biler fra Volkswagen-konsernet. <\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<br \/>\n<figure id=\"attachment_64812\"
