Mercury fikk lengere akselavstand, og eget formspr\u00e5k. Kanskje med tanke p\u00e5 \u00e5 v\u00e6re litt mer elegant enn Ford? Den f\u00f8rste Cougar-modellen ble solgt i modell\u00e5rene 1967 til og med 1970. Motormessig ble det levert samme motorer som i Mustang &#8211; avhengig av modell\u00e5r &#8211; f\u00f8rst og fremst V8-motorene p\u00e5 289, 302, 351 og 390 kubikktommer &#8211; men ogs\u00e5 Fords 7-liters V8 427-motor.<br \/>\n&nbsp;<br \/>\nSkjulte lykter skapte et t\u00f8ft frontparti, og ble beholdt gjennom de 4 f\u00f8rste \u00e5rene Cougar ble produsert. Men fronten forandret seg. De visuelle endringene fra \u00e5r til \u00e5r var:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>1967 &#8211; Cougar&#8217;s f\u00f8rste produksjons\u00e5r.<\/li>\n<li>1968 &#8211; Kjennetegnes ved markeringslys p\u00e5 siden og endringer i interi\u00f8ret.<\/li>\n<li>1969 &#8211; Bilene ble \u00f8kt med 9 cm i lengden og 4,5 cm i bredden, mens akselavstanden var uendret. Linjef\u00f8ringen langs sidene p\u00e5 bilen fikk utpreget &laquo;Coke bottle&raquo; fasong. Grillen fikk liggende ribber og fremsto som hel &#8211; ikke 2-delt som tidligere.<\/li>\n<li>1970 &#8211; Grillen ble igjen 2-delt med et markert midtparti.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3 s\u00e5 vidt jeg vet, ingen regul\u00e6r import av Cougar til Norge. Men hvis man \u00f8nsket \u00e5 kj\u00f8pe en ny Mercury, ville Ford Norge v\u00e6rt det riktige stedet \u00e5 henvende seg. De aller fleste Mercury Cougar-biler i Norge er importert i ettertid av privatpersoner. En av de mest kjente importbilene, var den rosa bilen til den folkekj\u00e6re artisten <a href=\"https:\/\/no.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Cowboy-Laila\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>Cowboy-Laila<\/strong><\/a>. I f\u00f8lge <a href=\"https:\/\/regnr.info\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>Kj\u00f8ret\u00f8yregisteret<\/strong><\/a> skal det for tiden v\u00e6re 116 biler f\u00f8rstegangsregistrert mellom 1967 og 1970. Noen f\u00e5 biler har  norsk opphav. Den mest popul\u00e6re motoren ser ut til \u00e5 v\u00e6re 351 V8 (5,8 liter), &#8211; dernest 302 og 289 V8.<br \/>\n&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"tebh2ingreslbcenter\">Bilene fra 1969 og 1970 N\u00e5v\u00e6rende eier kj\u00f8pte bilen i 1990 av f\u00f8rste eier og tok da det originale registreringsnummeret, A-4306, tilbake.<br \/>\n&nbsp;<br \/>\nOgs\u00e5 den r\u00f8de 1970-modellen med &laquo;hood scoop&raquo; har norsk historie &#8211; i alle fall nesten.
