Glas var et selvstendig bilmerke med r\u00f8tter helt tilbake til 1800-tallet. Etter krigen produserte de mikrobilene Goggomobil. Etter som interessen for mikrobiler forsvant, introduserte Glas st\u00f8rre biler. Ut over 60-tallet kom modellen Glas 1500 som ble oppgradert til Glas 1700 i 1965. Parallelt ble 1300 GT produsert fra 1963. Den lekre sportsbilen var formgitt av det velkjente italienske design-firmaet <a href=\"https:\/\/www.carrozzieri-italiani.com\/dealers\/frua\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Pietro Frua<\/strong><\/a>. Fra 1965 kunne den leveres med Glas&#8217; nye 1700 motor og markedsf\u00f8rt som Glas 1700 GT. Men bilmerket klarte seg ikke og ble overtatt av BMW p\u00e5 slutten av 1966. <\/p>\n<h3 class=\"tebh2\">Da BMW overtok<\/h3>\n<p>BMW fortsatte produksjonen av b\u00e5de Glas 1700 og 1300\/1700 GT med visse modifikasjoner. For GT-modellen satte de inn sin egen 1,6 litermotor fra BMW 1600. Med 105 HK, ny girkasse og mer moderne bakaksel ble BMW 1600 GT rimelig rask for sin tid. Det opprinnelige designet fra <em>Frua<\/em> ble bare litt modifisert med BMW-nyrer i grillen og de velkjente runde baklysene. Det er kun produsert 1255 eksemplarer.
